Monday I made the mistake of trying to put uncooked brown rice down the sink. I don't know why I did it, but it was an interesting mistake. I then made soup and put a bunch of other stuff down the garbage disposal. Everything was fine for most of the day, but that evening it went all wrong. It took me a little while to figure out WHY the sinks backed up. Unfortunately, I didn't remember what I had done until after buying draino and using it. Then I remembered that I put rice down the sink. *smacks head* WHY would I put uncooked RICE down a SINK? At least I was able to fix the problem by pulling the trap apart and I don't think I will ever make that mistake again.

My next place and any house I buy must have the stove on a wall not in a bar. Tams has decided it's fun to fly over the stove to visit me in the kitchen. This is NOT cool.

 I got an iTouch as an award through work. It's the first music device I've owned. It's pretty cool, but do I really need another device with internet access? We'll see how long the interest lasts.

Since I don't like cooking on a regular basis, I have been trying to cook for the week on the weekend. It's been working well so far and helping to keep my costs down as well. This week I decided to make two different options.

Option 1: Risotto with green peas and chicken Italian sausage
Option 2: Whole wheat couscous with grape tomatoes, black olives, feta, parsley, and a dressing of balsamic vinegar and olive oil

Both took an hour or less to make and I ended up with enough food for the whole week!

Well I was somewhat productive this weekend.  I didn't get everything done that I should have but that's going to happen.  I did stumble across a good series on www.hulu.com called Carrier.  It was about a cruise on the USS Nimitz and gave some of the behind the scenes happenings.  I also got my guitar as an bonus for doing a good job on a training session I developed and lead.  So now I get to sit around and practice.

I did get some of my goals for yesterday accomplished, but not everything. I did get my dry cleaning done, and I ate dinner. I didn't go lift but I took a long lunch and got a good walk instead. Today I need to:

-get my eyebrows waxed
-pick up prescriptions (may wait until Friday for budget reasons)
-defrost chicken breasts -make curry
-but coffee?
-find info so that I can call ACER

I have a long day waiting for me.  I'm pretty sure that I have a ton of stuff to do at work, but after the 4-day weekend I 'm not sure what.  So I'm trying to head in early to get my arms around everything.  I know that I have at least 2 meetings today, and need to send out an agenda for the one first thing.  I also need to bring my dry cleaning with me so that I can drop it off this morning; otherwise, I'll be stuck wearing skirts.

After work I want to stop by the gym and lift, then I need to get the lawn mowed.  Maybe I'll have time for dinner, maybe I should start eating dinner before I leave the office.  *sigh*

Well I've moved from Harrisburg, PA, to Portland, OR.  Life is good but I've realized that I need to find people to hang out with.  I'm going to see what I need to do to start volunteering at OMSI (the science museum) and maybe find a spinning class so I can start making my own yarn.  My other big goal is to start biking to work a few times a week since I need more exercise.

Ok, so I sorta figured out how long my ride was by using Google Maps Distance Calculator.  I wish it had been easier to find, but it worked well.

Now it's time for me to find some food, and then work on my shawl.

I took my first ride on my new bike which is a Raleigh Detour 4.5.  The only problem is that I can't find a place to figure out how far I went :-(.  I tried using Google Maps but I can't figure out how to see the total distance.  Well at least I went out and I didn't have problems getting my bike out of my apartment.  I also figured out that I should start from a dead stop in 2/5.

You know, it's sad when your bird (in my case an alexandrine parakeet) has a better sense of time then you do.  I was just poking around online and he had to remind me that it's BED TIME.  I tell you, he's the biggest goofball around.

Well now it's time to go back to my knitting.

Have to say that this weekend was great. Went to the Ren Faire both days eventhough it was cold, windy, and sometimes rainy. I think I saw all 8 Barely Balanced show and got Cameron, Brandon, and Caleb to sign my T-shirt LOL. I may have strained my voice but Cameron said it was appreciated LOL. I'm hoping to hear more about the possible preformance in D.C. but I think Cameron and Brandon are on the road so it might be awhile.
